From 6 to 7 August 2026, the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) will bring together SAI leaders and key stakeholders in Maldives, for the IDI Global Summit 2026: Building Sustainable Ecosystems for Future-Ready Supreme Audit Institutions in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

Small Island Developing States face unique and often interconnected challenges, from climate vulnerability and limited resources to capacity constraints and external economic shocks. At the same time, SIDS are at the forefront of innovation, resilience and environmental stewardship.

The Global Summit will provide a platform for SAI leaders and partners to exchange experiences, explore emerging opportunities and discuss how stronger accountability ecosystems can support SAIs in delivering greater impact for the people and communities they serve.

Discussions will address some of the most pressing and emerging issues facing SAIs today, including auditing the Sustainable Development Goals, climate change audits, the use of technology and artificial intelligence in auditing, fiscal accountability ecosystems, SAI independence, and sustainable capacity development.

At the heart of the Summit will be a shared question: How can SAIs and their partners work together to build sustainable ecosystems that strengthen institutional capacity and help SAIs become future-ready?

The Summit will take place back-to-back with a workshop co-organised by SAI Maldives and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) from 3 to 5 August 2026 at the same venue.
