About ASOSAI
ASOSAI was established in 1979 with 11 members. Now membership has grown to 48 Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs). Some SAIs that are members of ASOSAI also belong to other regional groups, highlighting their engagement in transregional collaborations.
Among the 48 ASOSAI members, 22 are affiliated with additional INTOSAI regional organisations. For instance, 10 ASOSAI members are also members of ARABOSAI, strengthening ties between Asian and Arab countries. Similarly, some member SAIs are part of EUROSAI, emphasising close collaborations with Europe. There is also some dual membership with PASAI and AFROSAI, showcasing exchanges within the Pacific region and Africa, respectively. This dual membership allows these SAIs to benefit from diverse perspectives and practices, enhancing their ability to conduct effective audits and promote financial transparency at both regional and international levels.
Why IDI-ASOSAI Cooperation Matters
Across the region, SAIs operate in varied contexts – from emerging economies and densely populated nations to countries undergoing rapid institutional reform. These ASOSAI members face distinct challenges in governance, capacity development, and public financial management.
IDI’s support is designed to reflect this reality.
Together, ASOSAI and IDI transform regional diversity into a shared strength—advancing transparency, accountability, and good governance throughout Asia.
