Einar Gørrissen is the Director General of the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), which supports more than 140 Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in developing countries to sustainably strengthen their performance and capacities.
Mr Gørrissen was educated in the United Kingdom at the University of London and has extensive experience in working with SAIs. He began his career as an auditor at the National Audit Office of Norway and later joined its International Department, where he worked closely with INTOSAI and supported capacity-development for SAIs in countries including Malawi, Nepal, Palestine, Serbia, and Zambia.
From 2005 to 2008, he served as a long-term advisor to the National Audit Office of Malawi on behalf of the Swedish National Audit Office. In 2010, he joined IDI and established the Secretariat for the INTOSAI–Donor Cooperation, a global partnership between INTOSAI and development partners aimed at strengthening and coordinating support to SAIs in developing countries.
Mr Gørrissen served as Deputy Director General of IDI until 1 January 2014, when he was appointed Director General. He has published several articles on Supreme Audit Institutions and continues to contribute to global dialogue on public sector accountability and good governance.
