PESA The Centre for SAI Audit Professionals

The Centre for SAI Audit Professionals

In November 2023, the IDI launched the Centre for SAI Audit Professionals. The objective is to provide opportunity for SAI auditors to come together to grow their professional audit competence where they will have space to experiment, innovate, learn, get professional qualifications, strive for excellence, network and be future-ready. The Centre consists of five elements:

Professional certification – this involves regular, global SAI auditor qualification in several IDI languages, and certificates for audit quality management specialists and learning specialists.

Future SAI audit – this aims to bring together SAI auditors and other professionals for innovating and experimenting with new audit approaches and competencies for the auditor of the future.

Professional learning and growth – this includes education (without certification) with practical components on key areas related to audit. This education contributes to building sustainable audit practices.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) – this covers networking and continuous education opportunities to the certified pools of SAI audit professionals.

Professional audit practice resources – this represents portfolio of handbooks, playbooks, tools, and other resources for core audit Practices

The SAI Learning Professionals Circle

In the same period, the SAI Learning Professionals’ Circle was officially launched with initial members of more than 200 certified professionals from all the regions. The circle aims to build the connection among alumni and others concerned, provide communication channels, and opportunity for continuous professional development. The eligible community members come from alumni of IDI competency and capacity development programs that include:

IDI training specialists – IDI certified training specialists are key resource persons used for professional staff capacity development initiatives within SAIs, regions and international activities. IDI used this pool, mainly, to deliver face-to-face training.

IDI eLearning specialists – The IDI decided to explore eLearning as a mode of training. IDI designed, developed, and delivered a certification program for eLearning specialists. The pool of these specialists is expected to support design, development and delivery of eLearning solutions at global, regional and SAI level.

IDI blended learning specialists – Blended Learning Certification Program is conducted in cooperation between IDI and the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI). The attendees, who received prior certifications as IDI eLearning specialists, were trained on the basics of blended learning and IDI’s learning methodology. The program is designed to create a pool of eLearning specialists who can act as resource persons for SAIs, ASOSAI and IDI in designing, developing, and delivering blended support to SAIs.

Topics in Training Techniques & Methods

Prior to the launch of the Circle, the founding members conducted surveys to build the initial database, and get the voices of the members about their learning and development needs as part of the CPD of the IDI Centre. The survey showed that learning tools, techniques and methods are the top priority as shown below:

Liberating structures Webinar

The IDI and founding members developed plan how these needs can be addressed for the CPD of all eligible members. Among the solutions is to conduct exposure webinar on liberating structures in collaboration with the Virtual Facilitation. (Note: stay tuned for other upcoming CPD events)

What are liberating structures?

“Liberating Structures introduce tiny shifts in the way individuals meet, plan, decide and relate to one another. They put the innovative and facilitative power once reserved for experts only, in the hands of everyone. More than thirty adaptable microstructures make it quick and simple for groups of people of any size to radically change how they interact and work together. LS can replace or complement the big five conventional approaches that people use all the time: presentations, managed discussions, status reports, brainstorms, and open discussions. In contrast, LS are designed to include and unleash everyone in shaping their future.”

Liberating Structures – Exposure Workshop

The exposure workshop has online format for 3-hour session (A logo of a computer graphic

Description automatically generated with medium confidenceup to 200 participants) to be led by 2 senior facilitators leading the virtual session. Participants will be given copy of the session’s recordings and all presentation materials.

This very first CPD event will be delivered only in English and there will be no simultaneous interpretations/ translations. Other languages will be considered in the future CPD events. While the webinar is initially open for certified specialists from the English-speaking regions, other certified specialists are also welcome if they are willing to join English sessions and if the schedule is feasible.

As this CPD event is exclusive only to all eligible members of the SAI Learning Professionals’ Circle, the IDI will validate the registrations to match with our registered members. If you are IDI-certified training specialist, eLearning Specialist, or Blended Learning Specialist who are not yet registered in our network (i.e., who has not participated in our initial survey), please send email to chithra.ramasubramanian@idi.no or mark-anthony.flores@idi.no for further instructions how to become a member.

To register for the event, please click the registration link above which will be open until 31 July 2024. After processing your registration, we will send you the meeting link and other important information for the webinar.

We hope to see you in this exciting workshop on liberating structures!

Embedding innovation: Dealing more effectively with public problems and responsibilities

In our session we’re going to be discussing what kinds of skills and competencies innovative teams have, what they look like and why we think they matter.

Before our session, take 10 minutes of your time to play with a tool designed to help you learn about the skills and attitudes of innovative teams and to help you better understand your strengths in changing the world for good. You can access the tool here.

Explore it and remember the responses you give, we’ll use these in the session we have together.

You can also read more about the competency framework here.
