For Immediate Release

Seville, Spain, 30 June 2025: The International Organization for Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) will showcase Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) contributions to government accountability and transparency at the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4).

“When we speak about accountability and public financial management in funding for development, Supreme Audit Institutions have a critical role to play,” said Einar Gorrissen, Director General of the INTOSAI Development Initiative. “Not only are they providing an oversight function, but SAIs report on government efforts to implement the UN 2030 Agenda and SDGs.”

Einar Gørrissen, Director General of IDI

INTOSAI’s delegation includes Auditor-General of Kenya, Ms. Nancy Gathungu, who will participate in an engaging dialogue on the role of SAIs in ensuring accountability and transparency in public financial management. This dialogue at FfD4 also provides funding partners an opportunity to learn more about the mechanisms in place to see how their contributions are managed.

“Supreme Audit Institutions cover a broad range of critical issues regarding funding and implementation of sustainable development-related activities and delivery of quality services to citizens,” said Auditor-General Gathungu. “We must work together with stakeholders to hold governments accountable for use and management of resources for the benefit of the people.”
