LOTA – Leveraging on Technological Advancement
Leveraging on Technological Advancement – LOTA
We live in a constantly changing world and Supreme Audit Institutions need to adapt to changes if they want to stay relevant. Technological advancement is changing the way we live. With technological advancements, organisations and people must store, organise, and use enormous volumes of data. They must process this data faster and safer than ever before, use a variety of tools and technologies, and cope with greater speed of change.
Governments around the globe are also investing in technology and introducing new systems. On the one side, investments in technology can help governments to optimise their functions, automate processes, and provide better services for their citizens. On the other side, digital solutions may be vulnerable to external attacks, corruption and create new levels of complexity and exclusion.
Technological advancements demand that SAIs obtain new skills and knowledge to cope with these new audit subjects. SAIs must understand the technological change around them to assess the implications of this change for their audit work, to leverage technological advancements in SAI audits, and to be able to audit technologies employed by governments.

IDI’s digitalisation objectives are to help SAIs:
1. Enhance the use of technology in their governance and internal operations.
2. Strengthen the integration of technology into audit practices, including the use of digital tools and data analytics; and
3. Contribute to better and more accountable use of technology by government
