INTOSAI Development Initiative
About Us
Each country has an SAI whose job is to audit public funds, programmes, and compliance with local laws and regulations. IDI provides support to strengthen SAIs so they may deliver meaningful impact for people and planet. The role of an SAI is also to:
- provide oversight on public financial management through government audit
- promote state-society relations through publishing audit reports and engaging with stakeholders
- hold governments accountable as they seek to implement global frameworks such as the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
At IDI, our support is based on a sustainable and needs-based approach for SAIs. We seek to empower SAIs by promoting gender-responsiveness and peer-to-peer cooperation as essential elements of long-term capacity development.
Strategy and Results
At the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), we support Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in developing countries in sustainably enhancing their performance and capacities. We are part of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and work together with INTOSAI Goal Committees, Regional Organisations, SAIs and other partners and stakeholders for independent, well-governed, professional and relevant SAIs.
