IDI’s use of inclusive language
We always seek to use gender-neutral and gender-sensitive language, but there may be instances where it could be improved, including in our translated information (see Google Translate Disclaimer below).
If you would like to highlight or discuss any examples for improvement, in any language, please email
Google Translate Disclaimer
Google Translate is a third-party service provided by Google that performs all translations directly and dynamically. Google Translate detects patterns in documents that have already been translated by human translators, and uses them to make intelligent guesses as to what an appropriate translation should be. This process of seeking patterns in large amounts of text is called “statistical machine translation”.
Since the translations are generated by machines, not all translations will be perfect. The more human-translated documents that Google Translate can analyse in a specific language, the better the translation quality will be. This is why translation accuracy will vary across languages.
IDI is providing the “Google Translate” option on the IDI website to assist you in reading it in languages other than English. Google Translate cannot translate all types of documents, and may not provide an exact translation. IDI does not make any promises, assurances, or guarantees as to the accuracy, gender sensitivity and inclusiveness of the translations provided. IDI and its staff shall not be liable for any damage or issues that may result from using Google Translate. Anyone relying on information obtained from using Google Translate does so at his or her own risk.
