This meeting held from 7th to 9th of February 2018 in Djibouti was attended by 40 participants from 19 SAIs (mostly represented by the AGs) and other relevant global stakeholders like UNDESA, Pan African Parliament and GIZ, but also local stakeholders.
The meeting objective was to launch the IDI-KSC Auditing SDGs Programme for CREFIAF, obtain SAI commitments through raising the awareness of SAI leadership on the 2030 Agenda and discuss critical issues related to the performance audit of preparedness for SDG implementation. This includes the integration of the 2030 Agenda in national contexts, securing means of implementation for the 2030 Agenda, and monitoring, follow-up, review and reporting on progress on the 2030 Agenda.
Discussions were focussed on some of the specific challenges SAIs face for auditing SDGs especially in terms of capacity and methodology as well as revealing a huge interest in the CRFIAF Region for the Program. As a result, 15 SAIs signed the statements of commitment to participate in the cooperative audit. The next steps of the programme for this year include the product adaption meeting in March, in Senegal and the audit planning meeting in May in Cameroon.
