The guidance has three parts: 2030 Agenda and SDGs; SAIs and SDGs; Performance Audit of Preparedness for Implementation of SDGs.
This guidance has been written by a team of resource persons with experience and expertise in SDGs, performance auditing, INTOSAI plans, whole of government approach and gender. The meeting to finalise the guidance was hosted by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) in Washington D.C. / USA from 23 to 27 January 2017. The participants were the IDI Deputy Director General and Head of Capacity Development, the IDI Manager of the Programme, the Inter-Regional Adviser on Public Accountability from United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the Managing Director, Strategic Issues from GAO.

The draft guidance will be send for comments by 10th March to the whole team who developed it and to the auditors who will be mentors in the IDI Auditing SDGs programme.
