IDI and ASEANSAI organised two hours webinar on Wednesday, 9 September 2020 on the topic of strengthening SAIs audit of SDG Implementation. Around 200 participants from nine ASEANSAI SAIs, including SAI leadership and senior auditors, participated in the webinar. SAIs who joined the webinar are SAI of Brunei, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
In the opening session SAI Malaysia, as Chairman of ASEANSAI, and Archana Shirsat, Deputy Director General of IDI, highlighted the importance of the webinar in raising awareness on auditing the SDGs. During the panel discussion representatives from SAI Malaysia, SAI Indonesia, SAI Thailand and SAI Myanmar delivered presentations about the development of SDG audits in their SAIs. IDI highlighted the use of IDI’s SDGs Audit model (ISAM) to strengthen SAI audit of SDG Implementation, including the SDG 3D audit initiative and the integrated education and audit support framework.
The Q&A session brought out many interesting perspectives from the participants. Questions and discussions covered such topics as audit competencies, the importance of leveraging technology in SDG audits, the sharing of audit experience, and benchmarking for audits related to COVID-19. There was great interest in the topics at hand, with questions continuing until the end of the session.
