IDI Board approves plans and budget for 2021

In the meeting, the Board also appointed the following Board members:

  • Åse-Kristin Hemsen, Director General, Office of the Auditor General of Norway (second term)
  • Kristin Amundsen, Deputy Director General, Office of the Auditor General of Norway (second term)
  • Tsakani Maluleke, Auditor General of South Africa, Chair CBC (first term)

The Board approved IDI’s new Gender Strategy which closely links to IDI’s Strategic Plan. The Gender Strategy will be a cornerstone in driving forward IDI’s gender ambitions.

The Board meeting also coincided with the first day of the annual international campaign of the 16 days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. Again, the IDI Board joins the international community in voicing support for the campaign. IDI is proud to make a small contribution by piloting an audit of the shadow pandemic of gender-based violence. The audit will examine government efforts to eliminate intimate partner violence against women linked to SDG 5.2.*

The Board also paid tribute to Mr. Kimi Makwetu who sadly and suddenly passed away on 11 November 2020. Mr. Makwetu was the Auditor General of South Africa, Chair of the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee (CBC), and a dedicated IDI Board member.

A Board meeting summary, approved plans and budget for 2021, a web-based high-level summary of our plans for 2021 and the new Gender Strategy will be published on the IDI website.

* SDG 5.2: Eliminate all forms of violence against all women and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking and sexual and other types of exploitation
