The SAO has already supported IDI’s bilateral work in the SAI of Gambia. “We are delighted to enhance our engagement and contribute to stronger SAIs in the entire region”, Ms. Elita Krūmiņa, Auditor General of the State Audit Office of Latvia, emphasised.
The funding will support SAIs in Africa in sustainably enhancing their performance and capacities. It seeks to help SAIs in becoming more effective, accountable and inclusive institutions and to face issues such as COVID-19 or more long-term challenges.
“It is great to see the SAO supporting SAIs in Africa as a peer institution. Our success depends to a large extent on peer support from SAIs - be it financial or in kind”, Mr. Einar Gørrissen, Director General of IDI, shows himself convinced.
The SAO plans to support IDI between 2021 and 2024. Support will be based on IDI’s Strategic Plan 2019-2023 and annual operational plans covering IDI’s engagement in Africa.
