IDI notes, with great concern, the attacks and burning of the offices of the Contraloria General del Estado Ecuador. We would like to stress the importance of having an independent and effective Supreme Audit Institution that provides oversight over the executive and serves its citizens. We hope that the office is able to recover and resume its activities as soon as possible.
