The President of the State Audit Bureau of Qatar, H.E. Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammad bin Saoud Al-Thani, and the Director General of IDI, Mr Einar Gørrissen, signed a 5-year Grant Agreement of 1 million dollars during INCOSAI in Moscow. The funding will contribute to IDI’s support to SAIs in enhancing their independence through global initiative and country-level support. The grant agreement will in addition support IDI’s work with SAIs in challenged environments.
The Director General of IDI appreciates the funding, “I’m delighted to have the support from the incoming President of ARABOSAI, the State Audit Bureau of Qatar. It is very important for the IDI to have the support from the SAI community and we are looking forward to strengthen our cooperation with SAI Qatar both as the President of ARABOSAI and as a financial partner to IDI”.
H.E. Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammad bin Saoud Al-Thani expressed his hope that the grant offered by the State Audit Bureau will contribute to the enhancement of SAIs independence and provide better conditions for SAIs performing in challenging environment to carry out their mission.
He also stressed that the IDI has long been a reliable strategic partner of the INTOSAI regions in the fields of performance and capacity building of SAIs and that he has strong confidence in its professionalism to achieve the intended outcomes of the agreed programs.
As the incoming President of ARABOSAI, H.E. Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammad bin Saoud Al-Thani confirmed the willingness of the State Audit Bureau of Qatar to develop further the partnership with the IDI in the various fields of performance and capacity building of SAIs, regionally and internationally.
