Meet the IDI Board
IDI's Board is composed of ten members from different supreme audit institutions. Get to know them better in our "Meet the Board" series.
The INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) and the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee's working group on Auditing in Complex and Challenging Contexts (CBC ACCC) are pleased to invited all interested parties to their latest webinar on SAI independence, taking place Thursday 1 July 2021 at 2-3.30 pm UK time.
You can join the webinar when it starts by following this link: https://eu.bbcollab.com/guest/ba5e079eaa1f4fdfbf1aec8375c34677
SAIs have a duty and responsibility to talk truth to power. They need the resources and legal powers to carry out public audits on behalf of citizens and place the results of such audits in the public space without fear or restrictions. This right has been recognised by the governments of the world through UN and other resolutions and is a core to the work of INTOSAI. But for too many SAIs such independence in law and in fact is a distant dream, and for still others, freedoms they thought they had, are being eroded.
In this webinar, attendees will hear from SAI Sudan and the Independent SAIs work stream in IDI. SAI Sudan will talk about how they have recently been able to achieve greater independence and the strategies they used to achieve this. IDI will outline recent work it has been doing to support SAI independence, including work with international development partners, and the launch of a rapid response capability to use when the independence of SAIs is being threatened.
The webinar series has been designed primarily for Heads of SAIs and senior managers but is open to any SAI members who wishes to participate. The webinars typically last between an hour and an hour and a half, including brief presentations and comments and questions from participants.
During this webinar, we are keen for participants to join in to ask questions and share their own experiences. You are welcome to send questions in advance to David Goldsworthy at
